There will be interpretation in English!
She was born with the soft skin of a baby. Hairless and clean. Suddenly when she reached the age of 12, hair started growing in different parts of her body.
When she was 14, she would hide her naked leg immediately when it was visible. People staring made her feel unsightly. She would avoid lifting her arms. People staring made her feel disgusting. And when she was talking to someone, their eyes were fixed around her mouth. Their eyes made her fell ugly.
When she was 16, she would shave her pubic hair so that she would feel clean and beautiful.
When she was 17 she would wonder why the boy next to her was considered more manly when his body hair grew and became more dense, while her femininity depended on how careful she was removing every bit of her body hair.
We have learned to distinguish and to measure femininity and beauty through the common and sovereign representations of our society. It is time to open our eyes and mind to new images and a new reality in which we perceive our femininity and beauty as we like, not as we are told to.
In order to explore our representations, we ask of women out there to photograph their body hair by themselves or with the help of others. It doesn’t matter which part of your body you want to show and photograph. Body hair that “aren’t supposed” to exist in conformation to this society, hair that we love or try to love.
So that each and every one can chose how to be a woman, how to look beautiful, how to feel pretty no matter what they chose or to look “ugly” and that “ugliness” to be their beauty.

The 5th Sexuality Festival of Thessaloniki is on it’s way and why not work on something that interests people of all ages and had a big impact on our lives? What would that be? Fairy tales of course. We believe that story telling is an essential concept of our lives and that they are responsible for shaping a lot of aspects of our personality since we were little. That’s why we would like to search and think of new ways stories are formed, different versions of old fairy tales that don’t comfort to the usual gendered stereotypes.
We are used to hearing about princes saving princesses in danger. Let’s change that, let the princesses be the heroes and the fighters of their own fight. We would like to see queer fairies and lesbian witches and whatever comes to your newly born worlds of imagination. Surprise us.
Write your own fairy tale as you imagine it and send it to us in the following email address:
sexualityfestival@hotmail.gr
You can send your stories until 01/05/2017 .
You are free to write the fairy tale in any form you like.
The festival is held in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the Science Faculty during 5-7 of May. The fairy tales that you will send us are going to be read during the festival.
We are so excited!
